Guest Lecture by Mr. Abdul Cader Uwais
Mr. AC Uwais, Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Inland Revenue, delivered a guest lecture at the Faculty of Law for the final year students of tax law, on the salient provisions of the newly enacted Inland Revenue Act, No. 24 of 2017. This lecture took place on the 23rd February 2018. In this lecture, he highlighted the amendments that have been made to the tax law by comparing the provisions of the previous legislation with that of the new legislation. for the computation of income, and proceeded to demonstrate practically, how a tax return would be computed in a given hypothetical.
Thus, this lecture was an extremely practical and useful exercise for students, as it combined theory and practice in an area vital to the study of tax law.
