Workshop on Legal Issues surrounding the Colombo Port City Project: A Commercial Law Perspective
The Department of Commercial Law, Faculty of Law organized a workshop on contemporary concerns about the Port City Project titled “Legal Issues surrounding the Colombo Port City Project: A Commercial Law Perspective”. This workshop was held on 29th June 2019 at the Senate Hall of the University of Colombo. Professor Chandrika Wijeyaratne the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Mangala Yapa the Chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, Professor Indira Nanayakkara, Dean, Faculty of Law were the guests of honour at this event. Emeritus Professor M. Sornarajah and Justice Saleem Marsoof partook as the panelists, whilst Professor Sornarajah was the moderator of the discussion. Professor Shanthi Segarajasingham, Professor Naazima Kamardeen and Dr. Dilini Pathirana of the Department of Commercial Law, presented papers focusing on investment law, company law, contract law and investment-related environmental laws relevant to the Colombo Port City Project. The audience included researchers, policy makers representing various disciplines together with undergraduate law students of the faculty who take International Investment Law as one of their courses.
