Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition 2022
Faculty of Law, University of Colombo emerged as the runner-up of the Henry Dunant Memorial Vernacular Moot Court Competition – 2022
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Faculty of Law, General Sir John Kothalawala Defense University collaboratively organized the vernacular edition of The Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Competition. The objectives of the Moot Court are to disseminate knowledge and promote the principles of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and provide law students with the opportunity to improve their professional skills. The preliminary rounds and the final was held on the 6th of December 2022 at the premises of GSJKDU. Teams from University of Colombo, General Sir John Kothalawala Defense University, University of Jaffna and Open University of Sri Lanka participated in the Moot Court Competition. The teams from the University of Colombo and University of Jaffna made it to the final round of the Sinhala competition.
The team from the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo emerged as the runner-up of the competition while University of Jaffna adjudged as the champion. The best advocate award won by Mr.Pramudithe Senevirathna from Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. Major General Milinda Peiris, Vice Chancellor of the GSJKDU, Prof. K.A.S.Dhammika, Deputy Vice Chancellor(Academics) of GSJKDU, Mr.Tim Philip Ross, Head of Operations, International Committee of Red Cross, Colombo and other dignitaries participated to the award ceremony.
